Bad luck, Ximena.

Not a great day

This horrible day started one Tuesday. It looked like a normal day, I went to the place where I wait for the van to come like every day. Mr. Edgar arrived a little bit late, but I didn't care, I was just thinking about what I had to do that day. So, everything was ok until we were getting near Maracay (I live in Cagua), there was a looot of traffic because there were repairs in the Cabrera's tunnel(?)

One of my favorite books/movies

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

I like to read books, most of them are about fantasy, supernatural situations, adventures, horror, not much about love and stuff like that, it's not my first option. This book in particular is beautiful because it shows you how innocent a kid is, no matter where they are or how they live. For example, when Bruno, the main character, arrived in his new house in Auschwitz, he didn't know why they were there or what's his dad's job about, but he's still proud of him. As time passed, Bruno discovers a "farm" where strange people live; his mother doesn't let him to go to the "farm", but he's so bored that he can't control his adventurous soul, that's when he meet Shmuel.

What I admire the most in this book is how Bruno and Shmuel's friendship starts and grows. This doesn't suppose to happen. Why? Because Bruno is a german boy and his father is the commander of the SS in Auschwitz, while Shmuel is a jewish boy trapped in a concentration camp. They're suppose to be "enemies", but that's not how they see it. I feel that they had some kind of connection and it started to get bigger and bigger, stronger and stronger every time they met. Even a small talk was enough for them to have fun because they were enjoying each other's company, they were inside of their bubble where everything was ok, even though they were in the middle of a war.

To conclude with, the end of the book was sad (even though I didn't cry and that's why my friends say that my heart's a stone or that I don't have one xD), but I didn't see it in that way. I felt that they died was, not the best, but the most appropiate thing that could happen to them; somehow I didn't find a future in that friendship because of the circunstances. For me it ended well, Shmuel was Bruno's best friend and he wanted to be like that forever and they died together being that, best friends forever. This also helped (maybe) to make Bruno's father think, analyze that what he was doing was completely bad and his job was not worth it if that made him lose his son and his relationship with his family.

Like I said before, this book is beautiful, simple, but BEAUTIFUL.

Incredible places you have to visit

Everyone wants to travel around the world and visit beautiful sites, but with so many places where you can have a superb experience, where you should start? Well, I'm going to show you my top 5 of the places I find interesting to visit; you can see and choose what place is your favorite.

     1. Venice, Italy

If you are looking for a calm and beautiful city you must visit Venice. What's different about this place is that you can move around the city by canals, which give you a unique experience.

     2. Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca site, which offers a fantastic look into the Inca history and, of course, an amazing view of the terrific scenery. Even though I went to Peru, I've never visited Machu Picchu (sad face).

   3. Highlands, Iceland

A stunning Northern Lights show is what you can find if you go to Iceland. It's something so spectacular you'll be stuck in this view, just looking at it forever.

   4. The Shahara Bridge, Yemen

This bridge was built in 17th century to connect towns at the top of the mountains in Yemen. It seems really scary if you look down the bridge, but it's a very popular tourist attraction.

   5. Reed Flute Caves, China

The Reed Flute Cave are highlighted by multicolored lights, turning this cave into wonderful place. You won't stop staring at the stalactites, stalagmites and pillar formations iluminated with pretty lights.

Sooo, those are several places where I really want to go because of their views, their history or just because it'll be something very different to see. We, as young people, have to take advantage of our youth, of our adventurous spirit (I don't even have it xD), make a trip wherever we want to and enjoy it like if it was our last trip (but of course, money first).

1st international trip

Something you have to know about me is that my family is peruvian; so, when my parents told me I was going to Peru I felt really excited because I'd never went to another country. I still remembered it like it happened yesterday (yeah, cliché). It was August 1st, 2012 when I arrived in Peru, my family was there to receive us and it was a very special moment because I had like 10 or 11 years without see them. When we went out the airport and the wind hit me I noticed the weather was a little cooler than I expected, but I didn't take care of that; my first mistake, I didn't bring the clothes suited to the peruvian weather (in case you didn't notice i went in winter). I stayed all month, 15 days in my dad's family house and 15 days in my mom's family house.

Everything about that trip was superb. For example, My grandma took us to a beautiful place called "Parque de las Aguas", there were plenty of fountains of different sizes and designs. People were having fun, there were families with kids running and playing with the water, couples walking, we were having a really good time. I was stuck with the amazing view I had in front of my eyes.

Another cool place we went was "Plaza de Armas". What I liked about that place is that it keeps its colonial structure; for example, you can see colonial balconies made in the Baroque style, stone walkways and it's a very special place because in 1821 Jose de San Martin proclaimed the independence of Peru there. I visited several museums and catacombs, it was an appalling and a little bit scary experience; I've heard a lot of stories about people getting trapped in those catacombs, I'm a fearful person, but at the same time I like to hear scary stories.

My relationship with my relatives in Peru was good. We had fun when my cousins, my sister and me played games where we had to dance, we did a little spa in my uncle's house, I even had fun when we did the chores. I remember one time when my aunt told me to go with her to buy pizza for supper, she didn't let me change my clothes, so I went out in my pijamas; that was an embarrasing situation (thanks god no one knows me). When we got the pizza, I went to the car straight away. There was another embarrasing moments in my trip; when I said words that here in Venezuela mean something, but in Peru mean something completely different, my half-sister always told me off because I was saying bad words or something like that, but I didn't know.

What I noticed when I was on the streets is that life is completely different depending on the country, the culture, the people, it doesn't matter if it's in the same continent, there'll be something that distinguish it from the others. For example, the cinemas are different, how they use money (they can get dollars from a cashpoint), their clothes. That's when I realized how incredible and different I felt being in my parent's country as a sightseer, even though I never sounded like one because I pick up any accent quickly. Beside my family, people never thought I was venezuelan until I said words like "perro caliente", "refresco", "conchale" and more; that was something really interesting to live. I think you'll never be the same person you were after traveling.

It's a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what's changed is you." — F. Scott Fitzgerald.
